From the Castlemaine Art Museum:
This Not-for-Profit (profit for purpose) organisation is to be incorporated on 1 July 2016 and is seeking four (4) Directors to appoint to its Board.
Castlemaine Art Museum (CAM) is an exciting and energetic organisation based in Castlemaine (population ~7,000), Central Victoria. It was founded in 1913, as the Castlemaine Art Gallery and Historical Museum and has a unique collection of Australian art and fascinating historical artefacts reflecting the early history of the district. It offers a high quality and diverse program of visual art.
Castlemaine is now heralded as a destination for the arts, with a vibrant local arts community and many opportunities to participate in, practice or simply enjoy the many artistic offerings of the area.
This skills-based Board of Directors is developing a strong corporate governance framework which includes overall accountability and responsibility for the strategic direction, risk management framework, budget and business plan approvals.
This is an honorary appointment. The time requirement is approximately 8 hours/month, including Board preparation and meetings, subcommittee meeting and participation in other events (for example fundraising and advocating with stakeholders).
We require Independent Directors specifically with qualifications and/or experience in one or more of the following areas:
1. Senior management including HRM
2. The Arts sector
3. Business/commerce
4. Fundraising and partnership development
5. Communication – stakeholder engagement, marketing, ICTIt is desirable that all Directors have knowledge of or experience/skills in:
1. Governance – previous Board experience or demonstrated director skills, preferably as member/graduate/fellow of AICD
2. Strategic approaches to planning
3. Financial literacy to fulfil Directors’ accountabilities under the Corporations Act
4. Organisational management, an understanding of and experience in the way businesses and organisations operate
