The Victorian Craft Awards is a biennial event facilitated by Craft Victoria and supported by the state government. Now in its second year, the Victorian Craft Awards present and celebrate excellence in contemporary craft practice. The Awards welcome applications from emerging, mid-career and established craftspeople across the state of Victoria. Applications of individual works and installations utilising craft skills, processes and materials are welcome. Established in 2015, this year the Awards will again select up to 100 artists for a finalists exhibition in June and July 2017.
The Victorian Craft Awards have created a new demonstrable standard for excellence within the crafts. The Awards play an essential role in delivering a focused, peer-reviewed opportunity for makers and collectors, and have enabled finalists to leverage new creative and commercial opportunities beyond the scope of the event itself. Importantly, the Awards also present a broad snapshot of the vitality of contemporary Victorian craft, easily accessed by non-makers and mainstream media. Craft Victoria sees this biennial award as a key aspect of our remit as industry leaders.
