The Paul Mellon Centre funding programme supports scholarship, academic research and the dissemination of knowledge in the fields of British art and architectural history, and of British visual culture understood more broadly, from the medieval period to the present day. There are funding opportunities designed for academics, scholars, authors, postgraduate students and independent researchers as well as some designed for institutions, organisations and publishers.
The current round of funding is now open and the deadline for application is 30 September 2021.
All of the Paul Mellon funding opportunities are open to international applicants. Of particular relevance to Australian researchers, given the current limits on travel, are the Publication Grants and the Research Continuity Fellowships; the latter is intended to provide quickly-released funding to sustain research, writing and thinking on British art and architecture during a period of unprecedented disruption for our scholarly and curatorial communities.
