Grimwade Conservation Services consulting specialises in all areas of art restoration and museum standard conservation to institutions and private clients. As a trusted leader in conservation practice and training in Australia and the Asia Pacific region, their client base includes significant national, state and regional public collections and cultural organisations; commercial galleries; corporate collections; and private collections. Our commercial services include conservation treatment of all types of materials; collection surveys; conservation plans; digitisation; research and technical analysis.
The Principal Conservator, Textiles role operates within Grimwade Conservation Services and is required to provide high level specialist expertise on the delivery of complex treatments.
The position reports to a Team Leader and delivers leadership in textile conservation for the Objects, Textiles and Archaeology team through treatment work, teaching and student engagement, staff supervision, research and client consultation. The Principal Conservator, Textiles must be able to work on complex tasks independently and apply their specialist knowledge and experience to engage and liaise with clients, share their knowledge with other specialist conservators on the team and promote their work within the industry.
