Post-war Australian sculpture came of age in the 1960s with the advent of Centre Five, a group of artists comprising Julius Kane, Inge King, Clifford Last, Vincas Jomantas, Teisutis Zikaras, Norma Redpath and Lenton Parr. Centre Five aimed to bridge the gap between artist and public through exhibitions and lectures, and called on architects, businesses and State and Commonwealth governments to work collaboratively with sculptors from the outset of new building projects. This exhibition showcases key works focussing on the group’s most active years, from 1962 to 1973.
