Speakers for the final public program associated with our stained glass exhibition include Internationally-esteemed experts and scholars.
This fascinating morning of short talks, public discussion and Q&A will reveal insights on Hamilton’s surprisingly progressive and contemporary approach to art in the 1960s.
- Speaking on Architectural Modernism and Hamilton is Professor Alan Pert, acclaimed architect and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning at the University of Melbourne,
- Insights on Hermann Hohaus’s Prometheus sculpture will be revealed by Jane Eckett, Postdoctoral researcher and teaching associate in art history at the University of Melbourne whose research focuses on modernist sculpture and émigré legacies,
- Art scholar, curator and artist, Heather Lee will unearth the story the Ian Bow sculptures in our entrance foyer,
- Distinguished art historian and exhibition co-curator, Dr Bronwyn Hughes OAM will speak on John Orval’s modernist stained glass,
- We will also hear from Dr Alison Inglis AM, Honorary Fellow, Art History Program and Acting Co-Director of the Australian Institute of Art History at The University of Melbourne, and Hamilton Gallery’s Artistic Director, Joshua White.
