The Visiting Scholar Awards are open to academics, artists, doctoral candidates, museum professionals, and writers, who are working in any field related to British visual and material culture. Recipients of the award have the opportunity to access the Yale Center for British Arts’ rich holdings of paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, rare books, and manuscripts, as well as material from the wider Yale network of museums, libraries, and special collections.
Residency dates for successful applicants in the 2024 cycle may be held between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024. Predoctoral awards may be held from one to two months. All other awards may be held from one to three consecutive months.
Applicants must be engaged in significant curatorial work in the field of British art. Curators at municipal and regional museums are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants can apply from anywhere in the world.
